Year 2: Director Woman strengthens its focus on women shaping Africa’s economic and business landscape.

Director Woman enters Year 2 with a defined editorial mandate and a renewed commitment to documenting the women shaping Africa’s economic, corporate and innovative future.

Year 2
Director Woman was launched in April 2021 with a clear intention: to build a publication that documents the women whose decisions, leadership and influence define the economic, corporate and entrepreneurial direction of this continent. In July 2022, we unexpectedly paused to refine the precision required for the platform we set out to build. Year 2 marks the point at which that precision is established.

Our editorial mandate is now unequivocal: to report on the women shaping Africa’s business, public-sector, financial, creative and technology landscapes with depth, accuracy and contextual intelligence. We recognise the scale at which these women operate, and we approach their work with the seriousness it warrants. Director Woman is committed to journalism that speaks to leaders, aspirants and decision-makers alike, without diluting the complexity of the environments they navigate.

“Our responsibility is to make the pathways visible.”

Our task is to document the process and the progress, from emerging leadership to established authority and to reflect the ideas, outcomes and pressures that define modern ambition, influence and success. Director Woman exists to chronicle this continuum with clarity, respect and a long-term view.

As part of this strengthened direction, we introduce Director Woman Frontline – a sector-focused initiative that will spotlight women leading across finance and economics, media and marketing, business, technology and innovation, social media and other pivotal fields. Frontline reflects our commitment to examining leadership at its most active, strategic and consequential.

Our commitment remains constant:

1. to report on African women with rigour and integrity,
2. to elevate the stories that shape industries and institutions
3. and to build a publication that stands as a reference point for progress, perspective and power.
